Cherry
Cherry (or Prunus serotina), which is widely seen in household furniture and cabinetry, grows in the Midwestern and Eastern parts of the United States. A hardwood of medium strength and durability, cherry has a straight grain that is fine and uniform and a smooth texture. Depending on which part of the tree it originates, the color of the wood can be a rich red, a reddish brown, or even a creamy white color. The wood's color darkens with extended periods of sun exposure and with age. Cherry dries quickly and finishes well when stained. |
